
MMRDA to launch rental housing project at vasai and Borivali and Vasai
Express india Reports: Mumbai, September 09 The Mumbai Metropolitan and Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to launch its second rental housing project at Borivali. On Monday, the Collector, on instructions from the state government, handed over 16 hectare of land near the Western Express Highway to the MMRDA. This plot is part a of MMRDA’s share of the surplus land acquired under the now repealed Urban Land Ceiling Act.
The city will get its first rental housing project of 35, 000 houses at Vasai’s Tiwri village.
As part of phase one of the rental housing scheme, the MMRDA has already tied up with Dhanashree Developers to construct 35,000 houses on 100 acre of land at Vasai. The homes would be allotted to families that do not own a house in the metropolitan region and have a minimum family income of Rs 5000. The rents of these houses would range from Rs 800 to Rs 1000.
